Today Batumi, has become not only one of the most beautiful cities of Georgia but a distinguished tourist center on the Black Sea. It has always had resources necessary for resort cities. However, the recent years saw unprecedented measures accomplished for the touristic development: residential houses of Old Batumi have been reconstructed; water supply and drainage system has totally been restored and renovated; a lot of tourist centers have been created: world brand hotels have been opened, the project "BatumVelo" has started, many cafe-restaurants and entertainment places have been opened. It is remarkable that Batumi has become a center of cultural events and international gatherings. Concerts of the take place here with participation of world celebrities as well as international festivals in art and sport. During the last three years Batumi hosted the concerts of such st6ars as Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras, Andrea Bocelli, Chris Botti, Sting, Michel Legrand, Enrique Iglesias, etc.
