Ajara is rich in endemic, relict and habitat species that are protected under the Emerald Network and Nature 2000 for the European Union. The fact that they are under threat of extinction throughout the whole Europe speaks to the significance of each of them.

South Kolkheti still preserves dune and dune plants to this day. It is a live monument of nature and is included into the Kobuleti Protected Areas under this status.

The following species of Emerald Network and Nature 2000 grow here: sea daffodil (Pancratium maritimum), sea holly (Eringium maritimum), sea rocket (Cakile euxina), sea poppy (Glaucium flaum), sea bindweed (Calystegia soldanela) liquorices/sweet-root (Glycyrrhiza glabra), etc.
