Department of tourism and resorts of Ajara provides different events within the framework of eco- tourism development. Birdwatching- is one of the most popular eco- tourism directions. Annually, in September, department organizes international Birdwatching festival. On the boards, especially prepared for birdwatching (Shuamta and Sakhalvasho villages) infrastructure work is carried out and professional trainings for personnel of local guest houses is held.

As a the third migratory bottleneck for raptors, each year Ajara attracts more birdwatchers from all over the world .This years is fixed growth of number of birdwatchers and their expenses. By the statistical data below, it’s easy to say, that this eco-tourism direction has a great perspectives in Ajara region.
